Bette Lee Crosby is such a talented author. She has written inspiring and touching stories in so many different voices. Each of her books is unique and yet her ability to draw readers in and keep them engaged is incredibly powerful time and time again. Memory House is no different. This is a fabulous story with characters you feel immediately kindred with. What I especially love is Crosby’s ability to draw out emotions from the reader. I laugh, I cry, and I get angry…right along with her characters. Once the story has ended, I feel as if someone has left my life but months later I still find myself recalling the story.
You cannot help but be changed after reading one of Crosby’s books; Memory House is no exception. The feeling reminds me of a song from Wicked in which the lyrics talk about being changed for good. Looking at the world through the eyes of Ophelia Brown will leave you changed. You can’t necessarily say if you’ve been changed for the better, but you’ll find yourself changed forever. It’s a beautiful feeling and will keep you coming back for more (good thing Crosby is such a busy and talented writer, you never have to wait long).
