Spring 2008 Contest Update!

Critiques:
Just a quick note to let Spring 2008 Flash Fiction Contestants know that we finally finished critiquing your entries! Hooray! Those of you who requested a critique will receive an email sometime this week with your scores and your critique pasted into the body of the email. It will come from a WOW email address.

Notifications:
We also will be notifying Honorable Mentions and Top 10 winners this week. Top 10 winners will be asked for their bios and picture so we can begin formatting the contest winner's page. After the page is formatted, we will send out an announcement via email to those who signed up for our "Contest" Newsletter. If you haven't signed up for this, please visit our home page and enter your email addy in the gray box located in the upper right hand corner. If you get our regular monthly newsletter, please note that these are not the same. You can sign up for the "Contest" newsletter by following the instructions listed above. There are also other newsletters to sign up for (Workshops, Markets, Store, Events etc.) so take advantage!

Thank you all for being so patient. We're almost there!!

I'm with Stephanie...am on pins and needles.

Regardless, this has been a great experience. My first ever contest (that offered prizes that is), and I made it far enough to be considered in the final round.

Everything now is icing on the cake.

Good luck to everyone and thank you to WoW for offering such a wonderful opportunity!!

  5. So, if it's Wednesday and we haven't received an email yet, I guess that means...

I request that if you're reading this and you do receive one of those long-awaited emails, let us all know! Today's newsletter indicated they have not been sent, so keep those fingers crossed Rachel!

  7. Well, it's Saturday, and nothing so far. If I don't hear soon, then I'm assuming I'm an "also ran" and am going to send that story somewhere else. I hate it when stories just sit and don't do anything. They need to be out in the world circulating! Maybe their emails just don't get to me. I've queried a few times on different projects and never hear back. So, maybe that's it.

Hello everyone! I'm going to go out on a limb here and share with you my past experiences with the WOW! contest (This is my 3rd entry and 3rd time making it in the first round). If I'm incorrect, I hope Annette or Angela will pipe in to clarigy.
It is my understanding that 35 entries are chosen during the first round of judging. These entries are sent off to the guest judge who chooses the top 10 and the remaining 25 fall under honerable mention. Therefore, if you received an email saying you got through first round judging then you have placed in round two and only time will tell where in the 35 you fall. If I were to compare WOW! with any other contest out there, I would have to say that WOW! is the fastest and best communicating contest out there. Their prizes are phenomenal and well worth the wait. So, let's enjoy this ride we are on and relish in the fact that as WOW's success grows, we have been lucky to be a part of it.

  10. Thanks for clarifying. This was the first time I'd entered and I did make it past the first round (yay!) I guess I'll just wait and see what happens. Looking forward to the final results.

  11. Heard anything? It is Monday...anyone?

  12. Yeah, thanks, Laurie. That helped. I was feeling a little glum about it but now I feel good. Cuz, I did make it past the first round.

Okay, not so glum now, no matter how it falls out.

Well, I received my critique this morning! (It was sent late last night) Out of 15 points, I received 14! Still no contest decision email. Trying not to read anything into that. Anyone else get their critique?

  15. Yes. Same for me.

  16. Don't want to dash any hopes, but on an earlier post, after the e-mails went out, Annette commented that they still didn't know the top 35. So I'm afraid I think there were more than that who received an e-mail. I could be wrong of course!
It's Wednesday now, so hope is fading for me, but it will still be interesting to know how many entries there were and how many made it through the first round, even if we didn't make it to prize level. Hopefully we'll be told this once the results are out. It's still a success after all.
