It was only a matter of time before something like this happened. But we wanted to let you know that WOW! is going on vacation—an extended vacation. The April issue will be the last issue published before WOW! closes its cyber doors indefinitely.
Angela and I have had a lot of fun with WOW!. It’s been an amazing 20 months. We’ve met many fabulous people along the way: bestselling authors, well-known agents, dedicated editors, talented freelancers, our team of hard-working interns, and of course, our loyal and amazing readers. We want to thank you all for joining us on this adventure. Each and every one of you has a special place in our hearts and we hope that you will keep in touch. Angela and I will still have our WOW! emails until the web hosting on the site runs out at the end of the year, so if you would like to drop us a line to get our personal email addresses, please feel free to do so.
We wanted to share with you our plans for what we will be doing now. Angela has decided to shave her head and spend a few years in an artist colony in West Virginia, following the teachings of Wulf Zendik. She will be writing, painting, and raising goats. My husband and I adopted a baby girl from Bangladesh while I've been undergoing IVF treatments, and I am now pregnant with triplets, so I plan to give up writing and move into my in-laws' villa to raise my babies in South France.
But no matter where our paths take us, we want to encourage you to follow your writing dreams and do everything in your power to make them come true.
Before I close this blog post, I want to remind you of what day it is: April 1st—the traditional day for pranks and practical jokes. Now, for some real fun… Tell us about some of your favorites.
And just so that you get something out of this blog post, other than a mild heart attack, visit this random generator site http://nine.frenchboys.net/index.php where you can be inspired by ideas for plot twists, unique characters, and unusual settings. Enjoy.
OMG! You really had me there for a minute! I was so devastated!!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteAw...that's so sweet. Thank you for caring that much!
ReplyDeleteWhen I told Angela I wanted to post an April Fool's joke about WOW closing, she was a little worried that people wouldn't read the whole thing or not realize it was really just a joke and would begin blogging and posting on boards about it. So...I guess we'll have to wait and see. Although, what is it they say about publicity? There is no such thing as bad publicity? ;-)
Yeah, you certainly had me going until the paragraph about your future plans.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that WOW lives!!!
HAHA! Good one guys! It would be fun though, living in an artist colony and raising goats. Good writing material there.
ReplyDeletePlease don't scare us like that again :)
Oh, that was good. I haven't been back in a while and I was thinking what bad timing I have. Glad to see it was a joke. :0
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Annette! I even had a moment of "What?" LOL.
ReplyDeleteTalk about heart stopping moment there, I just about passed out when I began to read the article. I wasn't sure what to think.
ReplyDeleteYou got me. lol. Good one.
Thank you for the good laugh, I needed that one. ;)
Hugs!
Happy Writing!
